Teen Patti is considered as an ancient & cultural card game, and there have also been several mentions of the game in various history books. Teen Patti has always been a prominent part of card parties during the festive season of Diwali.

With the advent of the internet, Teen Patti players can now play from the comfort of their home or on the move.

Basics of Teen Patti
In Hindi, the word Teen Patti means three cards. It is popularly believed that Teen Patti was inspired by the British card-game, three-card brag. This notion is quite likely true as the game of Teen Patti have many similarities to three-card brag.

A Teen Patti game involves the use of a standard deck of 52 cards. The player with the best three-card hand wins the game.

Teen Patti for free vs. real money
When playing online, you have the option to try your hands at two versions - a live version against a live dealer in real time and an RNG-version.

Many online platforms offer RNG-based games that can be played for free, while it is possible to play Teen Patti online against a live dealer for real money.

How to play Teen Patti?
The game of Teen Patti starts with the player placing the bet. Generally, there is a fixed amount that all players need to wager before the cards distribution. This minimum amount that players are willing to wager is termed as the boot amount and is kept in the pot, which sits at the middle of the table.

Once the bets are placed and the boot amount is collected, each player receives three cards face down. The betting process starts with the player next to the dealer and continues with players taking turns in clockwise order around the table.

The player who places the bet without seeing the cards is called the blind player and the player who places the bet after seeing the cards is called a seen player. The amount that you need to wager in order to stay in the game depends on the current stake and whether you're a seen or a blind player.

● If you're a blind player, you need to put in at least the current stake & not more than twice the current stake. The current stake for the next player depends on the amount you bet.
● If you're a seen player, you must wager at least twice the current stake & not more than 4 times the current stake. The current stake for the next player becomes the amount you wager.

The betting process goes on until:
● All except one player has folded. In this case, the remaining player wins.
● There are only two players remaining and one of these players at his turn pays for a show. Their cards of are compared and the player with the best hand wins.

Rules for a show
● A show isn't possible until all but two players have folded.
● If you're playing blind, the cost of a show is the current stake, irrespective whether the player is seen or blind.
● If you're a seen player and the other is blind player, you can't request a show. You can only continue betting or fold.
● If both are seen players, then either player, in turn, may pay twice the current stake for a show.

Sideshow in Teen Patti
Sideshow means that you wish to compare your cards with the cards of the previous player. You can ask for a sideshow only if you have seen your cards and the previous player has seen his cards as well. The player can then accept or decline your request.

● If the sideshow request is accepted - Both the players privately compare their cards and the one with the lower card ranking is forced to pack. If the cards happen to be equal, then the player who requested the sideshow must pack.
● If the sideshow request is refused - The betting continues with the player after the one who asked for the sideshow.
