This young man from Tokyo can be rented by anyone for 10,000 yen (Rs. 7,000 approx.) plus travel and meals expense. And do not expect him to be a happening element because he says he will not do anything except "eat, drink and give a simple response". He takes requests from people through his Twitter account, which has accumulated over 260,000 followers as of writing. "I will lend you a person (me) who does nothing," his bio reads.
Shoji started offering his services for free in June 2018 but then had to become a charging client to avoid a huge amount of requests and time-wasters. Having had 3,000 clients since the day he first started, he now averages at 3-4 clients every day. This is what he posted for the first time about his service on Twitter, "I offer myself for rent, as a person who does nothing. Is it difficult for you to enter a shop on your own? Are you missing a player on your team? Do you need someone to keep a place for you? I can't do anything except easy things."

On being asked what type of people he goes with, he said he go for several reasons, but most people hire him for sharing their loneliness and simply because they want to be listened. He has been hired for catching butterflies in the park, to accompany someone in filing their divorce, to pose for Instagram posts and etc. A man even hired him for talking about a murder that he committed and a person from hospital asked him to drop to a suicide spot.
Well, this interesting man is married and has even done graduation in Physics from Osaka University. While talking to The Mainichi newspaper, he said, "I'm not a friend or an acquaintance. I'm free of the annoying things that go with relationships but I can ease people's feelings of loneliness."
"I personally don't like being cheered on by other people. It bothers me when people simply tell me to keep persevering. When someone is trying to do something I think the best thing to do is to make it easier for them by staying at their side," he added.
And it seems that his clients are pretty satisfied from his services as one of his clients posted online: "I'm glad I was able to take a walk with someone while keeping a comfortable distance, where we didn't have to talk but could if we wanted to."
