The IPL 2021 Player Auction list is out with a total of 292 cricketers set to go under the hammer in Chennai on February 18th, 2021. 1114 cricketers had initially registered for the auction. The final list was then pruned after the eight franchises submitted their shortlist of players.
A total of 10 players, including 8 overseas players have set themselves at a base price of Rs 2 crore. Meanwhile, Umesh Yadav and Hanuma Vihari are the only 2 Indian players out of 11 who have set themselves a base price of Rs 1 crore.
India Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara, Australia stars Aaron Finch and Marnus Labuschagne are some of the big names to have made the shortlist for IPL 2021 auction.
A total of 1114 players from across the globe had registered for IPL 2021 Auctions but after the 8 teams submitted their choices, the shortlist was prepared with only 292 players. The IPL auction will get underway from 3 pm IST on February 18. A total of 164 Indian players, 125 overseas players and 3 players from Associate Nations will be up for grabs at the auction.
Kings XI Punjab have the highest purse Rs 53.4 crore while Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders the least at Rs 10.75 crore each.
Players with base price of Rs 2 crore
Harbhajan Singh, Kedar Jadhav, Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy and Mark Wood.
Players with base price of Rs 1.5 crore
Alex Hales, Alex Carey, Dawid Malan, Morne Morkel, Gregory Lewis, David Willey, Tom Curran, Shaun Marsh, Adil Rashid, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Jhye Richardson and Nathan Coulter-Nile.
Players with base price of Rs 1 crore
Hanuma Vihari, Umesh Yadav, Aaron Finch, Evin Lewis, Sheldon Cottrell, Mustafizur Rahman, Moises Henriques, Marnus Labuschagne, Jason Behrendorff, Billy Stanlake, Matthew Wade.
Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara (base price of Rs 50 lakh) has also made the 292-member shortlist while Arjun Tendulkar will also go under the hammer with a base price of Rs 20 lakh.
On the other hand, S Sreesanth, who returned from the spot-fixing ban to play for Kerala in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021, has not found his name in the final shortlist of 292 players. Sreesanth, according to reports, had registered himself for the auction and was among the 1114 players but his name is missing from the final shortlist.
A total of 164 Indian players, 125 overseas players and 3 players from Associate Nations will be up for grabs in the VIVO IPL 2021 Player Auction in Chennai.
Among big players, the likes of Joe Root, Mitchell Starc and James Pattinson have already decided to skip the auction possible for different reasons. A total of 61 slots are set to be filled out of which 22 are for overseas players and it will be interesting to see who manages to bag the elusive IPL contract.
