Farmer from Bihar grows the world's most expensive vegetable!
A farmer from Bihar's Aurangabad district has gone viral after cultivating a one-of-a-kind vegetable that costs about Rs 1 lakh per kilogram.

Amresh Singh, a farmer from Karamnidh Village in the Aurangabad district of Bihar, is the first person in India to take such a risky initiative. The saplings were purchased from the Indian Vegetable Research Institute in Varanasi by Amresh. Hops were previously uncommon in Indian markets and were only purchased on custom requests with lengthy delivery times.

Even 6 years back, the Hop-Shoots were sold for 1,000 pounds per kilogram in international markets, which is approximately Rs 1 lakh today. This crop is rarely seen in Indian markets and can only be purchased by putting a specific order.

Hops production is promoted because it will help farmers make more money. Hops are the flowers (also known as seed cones or strobiles) of the Humulus Lupulus hop vine. They are flowering plants that belong to the Cannabaceae family.

This plant has medicinal advantages in that they assist in the development of antibodies that combat diseases like tuberculosis. Its acids have also been found to assist in the destruction of cancer cells and the blocking of leukaemia cells. It was used in beer as a flavouring agent. Its importance as a vegetable and medicinal plant increased over time in a variety of countries.

Supriya Sahu of the Indian Administrative Service shared images of the crop on Twitter, claiming it could be a "game-changer" for Farming community. She wrote- "One kilogram of this vegetable costs about Rs 1 lakh ! World's costliest vegetable,'hop shoots' is being cultivated by Amresh Singh, an enterprising farmer from Bihar, the first one in India. Can be a game-changer for Indian farmers" Have a look here-

What separates it from the rest? According to research, every section of the plant has many uses, from the fruit to the flower to the stem. It is extremely beneficial to the beer industry because it acts as a stabilising agent. It can also be used as a natural cure for tuberculosis. The antioxidants in the vegetable can help you achieve beautiful skin. Cure for anxiety, insomnia, and depression has also been linked to the shoots.
