Norway PM Erna Solberg Fined Rs 1.75 Lakh by Police for Violating COVID-19 Norms!
Erna Solberg, Norway's prime minister, has been fined 20,000 kroner for violating coronavirus social-distancing laws when planning a birthday party for her family, as per the reports of 'The Guardian'.

A criminal inquiry was launched after the matter was brought to light in a storey by the public broadcaster NRK.

Despite a government ban on the gathering of more than ten individuals, the two-term president has apologised several times for celebrating her 60th birthday with 13 relatives at a mountain resort in late February. Solberg said on Friday she would pay the fine, which was issued by police. "I'd like to say again that I'm sorry for breaking the coronavirus rules," she told Norway's TV2 News. "I will accept the fine, and pay it."

Well, it is also being said that the government would not have imposed fines in such cases but the Prime Minister has been at the forefront of the government imposing all the restrictions regarding coronavirus.

"Though the law is the same for all, all are not equal in front of the law," the police chief, Ole Saeverud, told a news conference, justifying the fine. "It is therefore correct to issue a fine in order to uphold the general public's trust in the rules on social restrictions."

According to police, Solberg and her partner, Sindre Finnes, decided to have a party together and chose the restaurant, with Finnes handling the logistics.

Despite the fact that he had already broken the rules, he was not disciplined. The restaurant where the party was held was also found to have broken the rules but was not fined. "Solberg is the country's leader and she has been at the forefront of the restrictions imposed to limit the spread of the virus," said Saeverud.
