A parent in New York City has filed a court order allowing him to marry own adult child, citing "personal sovereignty" as the cause. Laws against incestuous practice should be repealed, according to the adult who wishes to maintain his or her autonomy.
"Through the enduring bond of marriage, two persons, whatever relationship they might otherwise have with one another, can find a greater level of expression, intimacy, and spirituality," the parent elaborated.
The court documents contained very little information about the would-be newlyweds, such as their gender, ages, birthplaces, or the essence of their relationship.
The parent from New York City explained that he wants to stay anonymous, saying the request is "morally, psychologically, and biologically repulsive" to a wide portion of society.
The suggested couples are adults and have a biological parent-child connection, according to the court filing.
"It's never going to fly," Manhattan family and matrimonial law attorney Eric Wrubel said. Woody Allen is the nearest you can be because it wasn't his daughter; it was an illegitimate child he never adopted, and that always makes people sick."
