Just when you thought the Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant grand wedding saga has finally come to an end, a viral video from the wedding ceremony showed that the billionaire gifted luxury watches worth around Rs 2 crore to some select guests.
Billionaires Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani's son Anant Ambani tied the knot with Radhika Merchant in an extravagant wedding ceremony on July 12. Anant treated his groomsmen with luxury Audemars Piguet limited-edition luxury watches -- each worth over Rs 2 crore.
The video that went viral on social media platforms on Saturday showed guests, including Shah Rukh Khan, Meezaan Jafri and Ranveer Singh, flaunting the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watches which were reportedly customised by the Ambanis for the groom's close friends.
The watch gifted by Anant Ambani features a 41 mm 18K pink gold case, 9.5 mm thick, with a sapphire crystal back and screw-locked crown. It boasts a pink gold-toned dial with a Grande Tapisserie pattern, blue counters, pink gold hour markers, and Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating. The watch includes a pink gold-toned inner bezel and the Manufacture Calibre 5134 self-winding movement with a perpetual calendar showing week indication, day, date, astronomical moon, month, leap year, and hours and minutes. It offers a 40-hour power reserve and comes with an 18K pink gold bracelet, AP folding buckle, and an additional blue alligator strap. Water-resistant up to 20 meters.
"Anant Ambani has gifted all friends special wedding gift," the Instagram handle, @theindianhorology, that shared the video wrote.
Reacting to the video a user wrote, "And they say India is one of the poorest countries... Ambanis showing off their money like there is no tomorrow." Another user commented, "Get you a friend like Anant."
"This is crazy," a third user reacted.
Following the grand wedding, the couple celebrated their 'shubh aashirwad' ceremony to seek blessings from the elders. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among other politicians and religious leaders like Shankaracharya of Dwarka Peeth Swami Sadananda Saraswati, also attended the ceremony.
As per ANI, the cost of the Ambani wedding was worth Rs 5,000 crore which is only 0.5 percent of the family's net worth. A-listers from the Indian film industry such as Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt-Ranbir Kapoor, and Madhuri Dixit, among others were also part of the lavish wedding.
Other international celebrities at the wedding included American influencer Kim Kardashian and her sister Khloe Kardashian, former UK Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Tony Blair.
The Ambanis will be hosting a grand wedding reception or the 'mangal utsav' for the bride and groom on 14 July in Mumbai.
